Middlesbrough complete deal for Bayern Munich defender Maximilian Haas

Take it to the Max: Maximilian Haas has swapped Bayern Munich for Middlesbrough[LNB]Middlesbrough have moved to strengthen their defence following the departure of David Wheater with the capture of Bayern Munich's Maximilian Haas on a one-and-a-half year contract.[LNB]The German central defender passed a medical and agreed personal terms at the club's Rockliffe Park training ground this morning. [LNB]The 25-year-old, who has spent most of his career with second division club SE Freising, joined Bayern's senior squad earlier this season but has not won a regular place under Louis van Gaal.[LNB]Boro manager Tony Mowbray said: 'Maximilian was very keen to come hereand test himself in English football. It's a challenge for him and hisarrival will create additional competition for places in that area ofthe pitch.[LNB] 'He is a real competitor and comfortable with the ball. The challenge for him is acclimatise to the English game and then take any opportunity that comes his way.'[LNB]Wheater moved to Bolton earlier this month.
