Middlesbrough have called off plans for a lap of honour at the end of their final home game today. Aware that defeat by his former club Aston Villa could see Boro relegated for the firsttime in 12 years, manager Gareth Southgate wants players to acknowledge the fans with a simple show of support in the centre circle. Southgate said: 'Going round as a team is a lap of honour. I didn'tthink that was right last year so it can't be right this year.'
