Middlesbrough announce unprecedented ticket offer

03 December 2009 12:30
IN years gone by, the joke used to be that Middlesbrough came down at the same time as the Christmas decorations.[LNB] Historically, late December and early January have not been good periods for the Teessiders.[LNB] This year, though, supporters who have bought a half-season card will have an extra reason to cheer their side in the opening four league games after Christmas.[LNB] If Middlesbrough win against Scunthorpe and Swansea at home, and Barnsley and Sheffield United away, anyone buying a half-season card before December 21 will get all of their money back.[LNB] The offer, which takes in the North-East derby against Newcastle as well as home matches against Bristol City, QPR, Preston, Swansea, Scunthorpe, Barnsley, Peterborough, Reading, Crystal Palace, Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry, is unprecedented amongst the region's teams.[LNB] Anthony Emmerson, head of supporter services at the Riverside, said: "This is a unique offer that we don't think any club has attempted before. I also think it's completely achievable.[LNB] "I hope Boro fans, or those shopping for Christmas ideas for the Boro supporters in their life, will find it very attractive. It's really a case of if we get 12 points, the fans get 12 games free."[LNB] Prices for half-season cards, covering the final 12 home games of the season, are £55 for Under-18s, with other prices starting at £110 for 18-21-year-olds, £155 for Over-65s and £219 for adults - but all could potentially be free.[LNB] The half-season cards can be ordered up to and including 5pm on December 21 by contacting the MFC Ticket Office on 0844 499 1234, online at mfc.co.uk or by calling in to the ticket offices at the Riverside and Captain Cook Square.[LNB] ** READ MORE MIDDLESBROUGH NEWS IN TOMORROW'S NORTHERN ECHO **[LNB]
