McManus absent for Boro

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray is without Stephen McManus for the visit of Millwall. McManus has been ruled out for four months following ankle surgery, leaving Boro short of numbers in defence with either Matthew Bates or Seb Hines, who played in the reserves this week, likely to fill the void in Boro's backline. Kevin Thompson faces a late fitness test after limping off in the defeat to Swansea with a fractured fibula. Striker Marvin Emnes has returned from his loan spell at Swansea and, following a 45 minute run out in the reserves, is likely to make the squad, while defender David Wheater is fully fit after recovering from an arm injury. Midfielder Barry Robson was an unused substitute for Scotland in midweek, despite lacking fitness following a thigh problem, but should be included in the squad.
