McDonald faces another lay-off

Middlesbrough striker Scott McDonald is not expected to return to action for another fortnight after suffering a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old former Celtic forward missed Tuesday's victory against Preston North End with the problem which he suffered after only recently returning to the side following a hernia injury.

"Scott's got a hamstring problem," confirmed Boro boss Gordon Strachan. "It's enough to keep him out for a couple of weeks I think. I'll add that to the other injuries."

The Teessiders have a lengthy injury list which includes Jeremie Aliadiere, Chris Riggott, Luke Williams and Emanuel Pogatetz, while several players have been struck down by a virus.
