Middlesbrough striker Massimo Maccarone is on the verge of leaving Teesside and signing for Serie A side Siena.
The striker's agent, Paolo Fabbri, says the 27-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the Italian outfit.
"We are awaiting one document from Boro," he said.
"We hope it arrives no later than Wednesday, otherwise the situation will be complicated - and Massimo will have to return to Middlesbrough."
Maccarone, who played 17 games for Siena during a loan spell with the club two years ago, has scored 24 goals in 102 appearances for Boro since his £8.15million switch from Empoli in 2002.
