Lucas Neill has agreed to join Atletico Madrid on a two-year deal worth £2million a year. Neill, a free agent after turning down a new deal at West Ham United, was offered more money and a longer term contract by a club in the Gulf, but the 31-year-old Australia defender has been swayed by the chance to play in the Champions League. Middlesbrough, meanwhile, want to sign Preston centre back Sean St Ledger on loan with a view to a permanent deal as a replacement for Robert Huth. Championship rivals West Bromwich Albion are trying to agree a loan deal with Fulham to take striker Diomansy Kamara back to The Hawthorns.
