Johnson suffers hamstring blow

Middlesbrough's injury problems show no sign of easing after Adam Johnson limped out of Sunday's 1-0 home defeat to Cardiff City with a hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old winger is almost certain to miss this weekend's Tyne-Tees derby at Newcastle United.

Boro boss Gordon Strachan said of Johnson's injury: "We don't know yet, we'll have to wait a day or two to see how bad that is."

Gary O'Neil (calf strain), Jeremie Aliadiere (ankle), Didier Digard (torn muscle), Chris Riggott (ankle), Josh Walker (dislocated shoulder) and Matthew Bates (knee) are all currently on the sidelines.
