Irvine hails response

Preston manager Alan Irvine was pleased to see his team bounce back from defeat on Tuesday and has urged them to make it two wins out of two against managerless Middlesbrough on Saturday. The Lilywhites beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 to put the weekend's 4-0 hammering at QPR firmly behind them. Irvine is looking for more of the same as they aim to leapfrog Boro in the upper echelons of the Coca-Cola Championship table. He told the official website: "It was a great response. As I've said many times, you will lose games in this league, it's how you bounce back from defeat. "It was really important we bounced back. I'm absolutely delighted we have got the three points and delighted at the fact it keeps us up there. "We're now going into a really tough game against Middlesbrough."
