Injury worries for Strachan

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan faces as anxious wait as he looks to claim a second home win in a week when Reading visit the Riverside Stadium. Tuesday night's fightback victory over Burnley left Strachan with a series of fresh injury problems to add to an already lengthy list. Midfielder Gary O'Neil picked up a dead leg and is being assessed while central defender Stephen McManus played with a knee problem and has been unable to train. Mickael Tavares has been in a similar situation with a calf injury sustained in midweek and David Wheater's damaged shoulder, which kept him out of the Burnley game, continues to be assessed. Joe Bennett is out with tonsillitis and loan signing Matt Kilgallon has returned to Sunderland for treatment on a back injury and Kevin Thomson (fractured fibula), Jonathan Franks (herniated disc), Willo Flood (knee) and Rhys Williams (pelvis) remain on the casualty list.
