Huth woe for Boro
08 Dec 2006 - 15:46:45
Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate could be without Robert Huth for Saturday's Premiership clash with Wigan Athletic after the Germany international picked up a foot injury in training.
The 22-year-old, who moved to the Riverside Stadium from Chelsea in August in a £6million switch, will undergo tests to determine the full extent of the problem.
Huth missed the start of the season after an ankle operation but, since coming into the side in mid-October, has worked well as part of a three-man defence alongside Jonathan Woodgate and Emanuel Pogatetz.
The Berlin-born defender has made six Premiership starts for Boro and also come on as a substitute on three occasions.
His possible absence adds to Southgate's defensive headache as Chris Riggott, Andrew Davies and Matthew Bates are also currently sidelined.
