Huth close to training return
12 Nov 2008 - 16:29:50
Injured Middlesbrough duo Robert Huth and Mido should be fit enough to return to training later this week, according to boss Gareth Southgate.
Huth has been sidelined since the end of September after picking up an ankle injury in training, while Mido has been struggling with a hamstring problem.
Although both players will not be ready in time to face Everton this weekend, Southgate is particularly pleased with Huth's progress.
He told the Evening Gazette: "We're hoping to have Robert back soon.
"He was playing very well for us before he was injured and he isn't a player we want to be without.
"But we'll give him the chance to ease his way back in gradually and won't be ready to travel to Everton.
"It's always good to see injured players come back and the main benefit for us is that we have a healthy bench. It increases our options and means that we can make an impression from the bench."
Southgate is backing both players to feature in the Riverside Stadium clashes against Bolton Wanderers and Newcastle United later this month.
