ROBERT Huth has completed a £5m move from Middlesbrough to Stoke City. Huth has left the Riverside for a £5m fee that could rise to £6m depending on appearances and performances. The Germany international travelled to Stoke's Britannia Stadium this morning after Boro officials accepted an offer for both him and team-mate Tuncay Sanli. He underwent a medical and discussed personal terms this afternoon, and his transfer was confirmed at around 7pm this evening. Tuncay has also been in talks in the Potteries, and Stoke officials are hoping to complete the Turk's transfer in the morning. Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate said: "Tuncay is an international player, he wants to play in the Premier League. "He has loved his time here, I think, but the challenge of his Championship promotion push isn't one that he wants at the moment. "I don't criticise him for that - he has got a World Cup year, as has Robert, and that's something that's at the forefront of both of their minds. "I understand that and I also understand what we have to do as a football club, so there are no issues with either player from my point of view." Speaking about Huth's switch to the Britannia Stadium, Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes said: "This is a fantastic signing because Robert gives us international pedigree and Premier League experience as well. "Our manager Tony Pulis has been looking to strengthen the squad with the intention of taking us to an even higher level after we achieved a magnificent 12th place in the Premier League last season. Robert is the type of player who can help us achieve that aim." ** READ MORE MIDDLESBROUGH NEWS IN TOMORROW'S NORTHERN ECHO **
