Hines injury adds to crisis

Middlesbrough's leaky defence has been hit by the news that Seb Hines will be out for the foreseeable future after being stretchered off during a reserve team match on Tuesday night.

Boro, who have failed to keep a clean sheet for almost two months, are already without Chris Riggott and Sean St Ledger, one possible centre-back pairing, and will now struggle to find a good partner for David Wheater in the heart of defence.

Hines was taken to hospital after leaving the field on Tuesday with his leg in a brace, suggesting the 21-year-old could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

This news comes as Boro prepare for a high-profile clash with north east rivals Newcastle United.
