Middlesbrough's veteran defender Ugo Ehiogu is on the verge of completing a permanent switch to Rangers.
The 34-year-old former Aston Villa star has spent the last six years at the Riverside Stadium and recently spent a loan spell at Leeds United.
Gers boss Walter Smith told his club's official website: "Ugo is coming up today (Monday).
"There are a few formalities to finish in terms of the medical and some contractual issues but we hope to have him on board today or tomorrow.
"He will give us a bit of steel and experience. We need a number of players between now and the end of the season, especially as we have European matches coming up too.
"Like Davie Weir, he will help all the younger lads around him."
Former England international Ehiogu made 126 Premiership appearances for Boro following his £8million transfer from Villa in October 2000.
