Arsenal, Aston Villa and Birmingham all recorded victories in their pre-season friendlies on Wednesday, but Newcastle again failed to beat lower league opposition.[LNB] Arsene Wenger's Arsenal - who sold defender Kolo Toure to Manchester City earlier in the day - recorded a 1-0 victory over Hannover as Cesc Fabregas scored the only goal of the game.[LNB]Aston Villa defeated Atlante 3-1 in their Peace Cup fixture, with Ashley Young and John Carew among the goals, but the match was overshadowed as Stiliyan Petrov dislocated his shoulder.[LNB]Newly-promoted Premier League side Birmingham defeated League Two outfit Dagenham & Redbridge 1-0 in a tight encounter.[LNB]Newcastle, who were hammered by Leyton Orient at the weekend, again failed to beat League One opponents as they were held to a stalemate with Leeds at St James' Park.[LNB]Last season's Championship winners Wolves grabbed a 1-0 success over Crewe at Gresty Road.[LNB]Stoke were forced to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.[LNB]Championship side Coventry suffered a 1-0 defeat to Scottish team Dunfermline, while Plymouth and Hearts drew 0-0.[LNB]Kilmarnock slipped to a 3-2 defeat at home to Partick, as Watford beat Hertfordshire neighbours St Albans 4-1[LNB]Oldham and Middlesbrough played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, while Hartlepool recorded their first pre-season win after defeating Gateshead 2-1, and Barnet won 3-1 at Billericay.[LNB]
