Emnes hits double for Boro reserves

MARVIN Emnes pushed his first-team claims with a second-half brace as Middlesbrough reserves beat Grimsby's second string 4-1 at the Riverside.[LNB] Andrew Taylor and Bruno Pilatos completed Boro's scoring on a night that also saw Chris Riggott, Tony McMahon and Didier Digard feature.[LNB] Pilatos opened the scoring from McMahon's pull back in the 17th minute, before Taylor doubled the home side's lead shortly after the half-hour mark.[LNB] Jean Louis Akpa Akpro pulled a goal back for Grimsby after the break, but Emnes, who was playing on the right wing, scored two goals in the space of eight minutes to make Boro's win safe.[LNB] Middlesbrough reserves: Steele; McMahon (Corker 46), Riggott, Grounds, Bennett; Emnes, Pilatos, Digard (Smallwood 46), Taylor; Franks (Martin 83), L Williams.[LNB]
