Duo make Boro comebacks

Middlesbrough have been boosted after Emanuel Pogatetz and Didier Digard successfully come through a reserves outing unscathed. The pair both lasted an hour of Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to Leeds United, giving manager Gareth Southgate a welcome boost. Pogatetz has been unavailable since undergoing knee surgery in April, while Digard played in Boro's opening game of the Championship season. Although Pogatetz is unlikely to be thrown into Boro's first team this weekend Digard could well find himself on the bench against West Brom. Austria international Pogatetz was happy with the run-out following a lengthy spell on the sidelines and hopes to return sooner rather than later. "I am pretty pleased with how I played because it was my first game back after a long time," Pogatetz told the Evening Gazette. "I got through 60 minutes and that was the plan. I could have played longer but we had to stick to the plan. "It's hard when you're injured and at the moment this is the biggest injury I have had so far. "I have kept working hard but I am nearly at the end of the road and I am looking forward to playing games for the first team quite soon. "There's still some work to do but I'm not far off now."
