West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo believes his side's 5-0 hammering of promotion rivals Middlesbrough sends a message to the rest of the league.[LNB]Goals from Chris Brunt (2), Youssuf Mulumbu, Roman Bednar and Jerome Thomas put Boro to the sword at the Riverside and keep them top of the table.[LNB]"We have put a statement out for the rest of the league," said Di Matteo. "It was certainly one of our best performances so far and obviously we will take confidence from the performance.[LNB]"We played well and we sustained it over the full 90 minutes. We have a very good group of players. Chris Brunt scored a couple of good goals, especially the first one, but it was a good group performance.[LNB]"I have some sympathy for Middlesbrough. They are a good team and I'm sure they'll bounce back. They were just unfortunate to play us."
