Clarets lose loan star

Burnley will not be able to use loan star Rhys Williams during the play-offs and he has returned to Middlesbrough.[LNB] The 20-year-old has been forced to return to the struggling Premier League club after the Turf Moor outfit failed to get his initial three-month loan extended.[LNB]Williams - yet to make his league debut for Boro - has impressed hugely for the Clarets and played 17 games for the club, helping them into the Championship play-offs.[LNB]However, the Welsh defender has now returned to the North East and he could feature in Boro's end of season run-in.[LNB]"Rhys has had a very successful time at Burnley and it is unfortunate that Burnley are unable to extend the loan at this stage," said Gareth Southgate.[LNB]"However, we are delighted to have Rhys back in the squad for our final three matches of the season."[LNB]Boro face local rivals Newcastle on Monday in a massive Premier League clash and Southgate is confident his players can come through at St James' Park.[LNB]"Holding your nerve is important - there will be some big atmospheres to cope with, some big matches to play in," he said.[LNB]"Going out and performing and being able to perform under pressure will be key, definitely."[LNB]
