Chris Riggott injury adds to Middlesbrough's relegation worries
The Riverside club have revealed that the former Derby defender faces up to six weeks on the sidelines due to a knee injury sustained during last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Manchester City.[LNB]The 27-year-old had to be withdrawn from the game after 68 minutes at Eastlands due to the problem and now scans have confirmed that he has torn his medial knee ligament.[LNB]A statement on the club website said Riggott would be out for the "next four to six weeks of the season".[LNB]Riggott has formed an impressive partnership in recent weeks with German Robert Huth in the heart of Boro's defence.[LNB]Despite the loss of his team-mate, Huth is still optimistic that Boro will climb out of the relegation zone.[LNB]"We had chances and didn't take them at Manchester City," he said. " Obviously it's very disappointing but we have to cross that game off now, forget about it and make sure we get something out of Wigan in a fortnight.[LNB]"There's no point looking back, â Could have, maybe, should have' – it doesn't 't matter. We can't do anything about it. We have to look towards the last 13 games now and make sure we get the wins or the draws necessary." "There's no hiding now. We all started on a level playing field and we are in this position for a reason – the facts are clear.[LNB]"We have only managed to win five games and we have to do that again if we are to stay in the league. We are struggling so we have to put our heads down and work." The 24-year-old added: "It's horrible, you think about it every day. You don 't want to be second from bottom, third form bottom or anywhere near the relegation zone.[LNB]"It takes up a big part of my life because I don't want to be there. The lads don't want to be there and it's up to us and the manager to get us out of it.[LNB]"It doesn't matter who takes the chances as long as someone does, whether it 's Afonso Alves, me or Riggsy, but we will stay up – we have to."
