West Bromwich Albion moved to the top of the Championship after drawing at Sheffield United as Cardiff City and Middlesbrough lost for the first time this season. Roy Keane is still awaiting his first win of the campaign at Ipswich Town, while Nottingham Forest hung on to beat Derby County in a frantic derby at the City Ground. Sheffield United twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at home to West Brom, with the result enough to send Roberto Di Matteo's side to the summit. Nicky Maynard grabbed an injury-time winner as Bristol City moved level on points with Middlesbrough following a 2-1 success at Ashton Gate. Doncaster picked up a first three-point haul this season as first-half goals from Adam Lockwood and James Hayter clinched a 2-0 home win over previous leaders Cardiff. Reading claimed a first Championship win under Brendan Rodgers as Noel Hunt scored a second-half brace in a 3-1 triumph at bottom-of-the-table Barnsley. Billy Davies put one over his former club as Nottingham Forest hung on to beat Derby 3-2 at home, with Nathan Tyson scoring the decisive goal. Ipswich could not find a way past 10-men Preston North End in the second half at Portman Road as the two sides settled for a 1-1 draw. Former Ipswich boss Jim Magilton gained his first league win as Queens Park Rangers manager as Adel Taarabt's early goal secured a 1-0 success at Scunthorpe United. Alan Tate scored a last-minute equaliser as Swansea City fought back to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Watford. Marcus Tudgay netted twice in the second half as Sheffield Wednesday ran out 3-1 winners over former manager Paul Sturrock's Plymouth Argyle side at Home Park. Blackpool's run of four successive draws to start the season was ended as Ian Holloway's men recorded a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Coventry City.
