Preston midfielder Darren Carter has urged team-mate Sean St Ledger to ignore interest from Championship rivals Middlesbrough and stay at Deepdale. Boro are hoping to complete the signing of the Republic of Ireland international on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent move. St Ledger, 24, appeared to bid farewell to Preston fans after staying behind after the final whistle to applaud the Deepdale crowd following Saturday's 2-0 win over Swansea. However, Carter said: "I hope he stays. I've told Sean I want him to stay and it's no surprise he is getting interest from other clubs. "He's more than ready for the Premier League and hopefully he will go there with Preston."
