Boss senses attitude change towards Boyd

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray is hoping striker Kris Boyd is starting to win over the club's fans. The 27-year-old Scotland international has been unable to repeat his remarking goalscoring feats in his native country during his time to date on Teesside, and was linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window. However, Boyd has started the club's last five games and his manager sensed a growing warmth towards him after his goal in the 2-0 home win over Scunthorpe last Tuesday night. Mowbray said: "Great credit to the supporters and Kris. When he scored, I felt there was a genuine feeling towards him, and hopefully this is the start of him off and running. "We are all human. I am pretty sure if I am sitting on the bench and feeling the potential negativity the week before towards him, I am pretty sure he feels the warmth towards him after Tuesday, the feeling that people are wanting him to do well, for himself, of course, but for the team. "If Kris Boyd is playing well and scoring goals, then generally the team will not be far away from winning matches."
