Middlesbrough have strongly denied rumours that England winger Stewart Downing is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window.
Downing, 22, has long been a transfer target for Spurs boss Martin Jol, but Boro have reiterated their desire to keep the winger at the Riverside Stadium.
"We have had no contact from Tottenham with regard to Stewart Downing and nor do we expect to," chief executive Keith Lamb told the club's official website.
"All there is to say is that Stewart remains a big part of our future plans."
Middlesbrough-born Downing is a product of the club's academy.
The left-sided midfielder has collected eight international caps and featured for England during last summer's World Cup finals in Germany.
