    Boro landed with FA fine

    26 Mar 2009 - 12:44:58

Middlesbrough have been fined £6,000 by the Football Association after pleading guilty to a charge of failing to control their players.

Boro were hauled before the FA following the behaviour of their players during Premier League match against West Brom on January 17.

Several players contested referee Mark Halsey's decision to send off midfielder Didier Digard for a second-half foul on Borja Valero.

Boro were trailing 2-0 at the time and went on to lose 3-0 at The Hawthorns.

"At a regulatory commission hearing on Wednesday, Middlesbrough FC were fined £6,000 for failing to control their players," read an FA statement.

"The charge relates to the conduct of Middlesbrough players towards referee Mark Halsey following the sending-off of Didier Digard during the second half of their match against West Bromwich Albion on 17 January.

"Middlesbrough admitted the charge and requested a personal hearing, £2,000 of the fine is suspended until the end of the 2009/10 season pending any further breaches of the same rule."
