O'Neil extends Riverside stay

Middlesbrough midfielder Gary O'Neil has put pen-to-paper on a new contract extension at the Riverside Stadium.
O'Neil joined Boro from Portsmouth in a £5million deal on transfer deadline day in August 2007 and his new contract will see him stay at the club until 2012.
Gordon Strachan's outfit have lost their last three games and they sit in a lowly 14th position in the Championship table.
To add to their woes, they have won just once in their last nine league fixtures and it is a run of results which is bothering O'Neil.
Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "We need to go on a run of winning, make sure we pick up three points against Scunthorpe and Barnsley, and hopefully the manager will get a chance to strengthen in January and we can push on.
"We need to address the situation and I'm sure the gaffer is aware of what we need to do, but obviously we're getting a little bit short of time."
