Boro complete McManus deal

Celtic defender Stephen McManus has joined Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season.

Boro boss Gordon Strachan had been linked with another raid on his former club for the Scotland international throughout the transfer window and McManus has now joined up with the Championship outfit.

McManus becomes Strachan's fourth recruit from his former employers after his previous acquisitions of Barry Robson, Willo Flood and Chris Killen this month.

"We're delighted to have Stephen join us. He's achieved a lot in his career, winning trophies, playing in the Champions League and captaining club and country," Strachan told the club's official website.

"I think the world of Stephen as a player and as a man. He's a leader and an organiser and will be a great asset to the club."

McManus had dropped down the pecking order at Celtic Park this season following Tony Mowbray's arrival as manager during the summer.
