Middlesbrough are close to completing the signings of three new players, according to chief executive Keith Lamb.
Boro have yet to add to their ranks this summer despite allowing a raft of out-of-contract players to leave the Riverside Stadium.
Manager Gareth Southgate has already allowed Fabio Rochemback, Gaizka Mendieta and Dong-Gook Lee to leave, while goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer also departed for Fulham after rejecting a new contract.
The Teessiders have been linked with moves to sign France Under-21 international Didier Digard plus Reading's James Harper and Lamb has revealed they are close to concluding their first transfer business of the summer.
"We are actively pursuing a number of players," he told the club's official website.
"Negotiations are going very well and we hope to have most of our incoming transfer activity completed before the players return to training on July 7.
"Everything is going well and we are confident of completing two or three new signings soon.
"Our summer arrivals will endorse our vision of building a squad of players who are young, ambitious and high-energy performers supported with a smattering of experience."
