Boro-bound: Ben Watson is set to leave Crystal Palace Palace turned down an offer of about£1million from Boro yesterday, but Gareth Southgate's club returned with an improved offer that will see the 23-year-old move to the Riverside. Watson is out of contract at Selhurst Park at the end of the season and has refused an extension to his deal. His decision left Palace with little option other than to sell the player, who has been with them since the start of his career. Palace boss Neil Warnock told The Advertiser: 'The chairman has spoken to Steve Gibson and they have agreed a£2m fee. 'It's not a forgone conclusion yet, Ben still has to agree personal terms.' The deal will also include a range of add-ons which could benefit the Selhurst Park coffers in the future. Southgate could also add to his attacking options by signing Marlon King, who is on loan at Hull City from Wigan. Latics boss Steve Bruce is said to be interested in a swap deal that would see Middlesbrough's Mido move to the JJB in exchange for King. The striker has fallen out with Hull manager Phil Brown. King was reportedly kicked out of the City dressing room when he was named as a substitute against Arsenal at the weekend.   More...
