Middlesbrough coach Steve Agnew has confirmed the club could enter the loan market to bolster their squad. Boro missed out on Derby striker Rob Hulse on transfer deadline day but Agnew has revealed manager Gareth Southgate is looking at loan deals to strengthen his team. "History shows a lot of the successful teams in the Championship have used the loans system very well," Agnew told the club's official website. "There is a possibility the loan system can be used. I'm sure that's something that will interest the manager." Agnew is also hopeful that Afonso Alves' switch to Qatar will go ahead and added: "The fact that Afonso has travelled all the way to the Middle East shows he'll be keen to do a deal and I'm sure the clubs are. "As we speak, we're still negotiating as far as I'm aware, so watch this space."
