Boro held by Athlone
Kris Boyd marked his debut with a goal as Middlesbrough began their tour of Ireland with a 1-1 draw against Athlone.
Boyd, along with Kevin Thomson and Nicky Bailey, was one of three new summer signings on parade.
The former Rangers striker put Boro ahead after 73 minutes after Luke Williams picked him out on the edge of the six-yard box.
However, the lead last just three minutes as Austin Skelly beat Brad Jones with a low shot.
Leroy Lita had a chance to win the game late on but his effort was saved.
