Boro eye up strikers
MIDDLESBROUGHS search for a new striker continues with Marlon Harewood and Gillingham marksman Simeon Jackson the latest to be linked with a move to the Riverside.
Harewood was a Boro target in January and Martin ONeill is now thought to be willing to offer the former West Ham forward as part of deal to take Tuncay Sanli to Villa Park.
Harewood is surplus to requirements at Villa and he spent the final two months of last season on loan at Wolves after finding his chances limited under ONeill.
Canada international Jackson is another option with sources at Gillingham claiming the 22-year-old has been monitored by Boro.
He has scored 24 goals since joining the Gills in January 2008 and is rated in the £1.5m bracket. He scored an opening day hat-trick in the 5-0 win over Swindon.
Derby County target man Rob Hulse remains Gareth Southgates main target.
Gary ONeil is to delay an operation due today until later in the month.
Gary was due to have a hernia op, but he is now going to play through it for a little while, explained manager Gareth Southgate.
