Boro confirm Downing deal
Middlesbrough have confirmed Stewart Downing is on his way to Aston Villa after accepting an undisclosed bid for the winger.[LNB] Sky Sports News revealed on Wednesday that Downing was heading for talks with Villa after a fee of £12million was agreed between the two clubs.[LNB]Downing spent the afternoon at Villa's Bodymoor Heath training ground discussing personal terms and undergoing a medical.[LNB]The England international is now close to finalising a return to the Premier League, with Downing expected to sign a four-year contract.[LNB]The 24-year-old is currently recovering from a broken foot sustained against Villa at the end of last season, but it is not anticipated to pose any problems with passing the medical.[LNB]He has been pencilled in for a return to first-team action in October when it appears likely he will be pulling on a Villa shirt.[LNB]
