Middlesbrough's pre-season friendly against neighbours Darlington next week has been called off. The sides were due to meet at the Darlington Arena on Wednesday evening, but the Teessiders have agreed to cancel the fixture with the League Two side, having already picked up seven injuries in their pre-season preparations. Quakers boss Colin Todd said: "I have spoken to (Boro manager) Gareth (Southgate) and he was very understanding, so we are grateful to him and to Boro. "It's important for us to maintain a positive relationship with the club, as our nearest neighbours. "We would like to apologise to both sets of fans for any inconvenience or disappointment caused, but we hope everyone appreciates the difficult situation we are in at the moment."
