Boateng faces anxious wait
12 Sep 2006 - 11:26:24
Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng will see a consultant on Tuesday after sustaining a knee injury in Saturday's draw with Arsenal.
The Dutchman was sent off in the 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium and is suspended for Saturday's Premiership clash at Bolton but it is hoped the injury is not serious and he will be able to return to action in next week's Carling Cup clash with Notts County.
The Boro captain picked up the injury when his studs caught in the turf as he attempted to tackle Freddie Ljungberg. The challenge earned him a second yellow card and a one-match ban.
Boro boss Gareth Southgate told the Evening Gazette: "George was limping badly on the way home but we're hoping that it's not too bad.
"He will miss a match for us anyway. You're always disappointed when a player is sent off, but it was a free-kick."
