Sheffield United have made their first signing of the summer, paying Watford in the region of £500,000 for midfielder Lee Williamson. Williamson, 27, played a key role on loan at Preston at the end of last season, helping the Lancashire side secure an unlikely play-off spot, and has signed a three-year deal. United assistant boss Sam Ellis, meanwhile, has turned down the chance to become Tony Pulis' No.2 at Stoke. Elsewhere, Championship rivals Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion have joined the race to sign out-of-contract Crystal Palace striker Shefki Kuqi.
