Middlesbrough have been charged by the Football Association for failing to control their players during Saturday's 3-0 defeat at West Brom.
After Didier Digard had been dismissed by Mark Halsey, the Boro players surrounded the referee and contested the decision.
Gareth Southgate's side were already 2-0 behind when Digard's two-footed 62nd-minute challenge on Borja Valero was deemed to be a red card offence.
A brief statement on the FA's official website read: "The charge relates to the conduct of Middlesbrough players towards referee Mark Halsey following the sending-off of Didier Digard during the second half of Boro's match against West Bromwich Albion on 17 January.
"Middlesbrough have until 4 February to respond to the charge."
