Mexico have excluded seven players from their squad for the Copa America (July 1-24) for indiscipline, the Mexican Football Federation announced on Tuesday.

The young players were suspended for six months and fined $4,170 after incidents at a hotel in Quito, Ecuador following a friendly match last Saturday.

The seven unidentified players "broke the rules" and "were suspended for the next six months," said national team director Hector Gonzalez Inarruti.

According to the management of the hotel, the players invited women into their hotel rooms, where thefts subsequently occurred.

Mexico, whose senior team defeated the United States in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final on Saturday, had decided to send a squad of players aged under 22 to the tournament in Argentina, supplemented by five older players.
