Davies remains focused
York defender Ben Davies said the club had no time to dwell on the disappointment of Saturday's postponed Sky Bet League Two play-off semi-final against Fleetwood.
Torrential rain at Bootham Crescent left the pitch unplayable and after initially delaying the scheduled 7.30pm kick-off by half an hour, further downpours forced referee Carl Boyeson to call off the game, which will be played on Monday night.
"The fans came out in force and we were really looking forward to a game of football, but you can't control the weather and sometimes this happens," said Davies.
"It's just disappointing that we've had no games called off all season and when it comes to the main one the weather has let us down.
"But we've just got to concentrate for the next game. To be fair I think the referee had no choice."
There is little to choose between the two sides who were both promoted to the Football League two seasons ago - York after an eight-year absence and big-spending Fleetwood for the first time.
Graham Alexander's Fleetwood finished five points and three places above York at the end of the regular season and, after securing a fifth promotion in eight years when promoted as Blue Square Premier champions in 2012, chairman Andy Pilley's financial input has helped steer them to the brink of another.
But York have enjoyed a strong second half of the season. The Minstermen were six points above the relegation zone in early February but a run of just two defeats in 23 matches has seen them surge up the table.
Nigel Worthington's side are unbeaten in their last 17 games since their 2-1 win at Fleetwood on February 1. They are two games away from a fifth Wembley appearance in just over five years.
Davies, enjoying a fine season at Bootham Crescent on loan from Preston, said he and his team-mates would quickly put Saturday's disappointment behind them.
"We've tried all season to get ourselves in this position, we don't want to get let down by someone slipping or by the ball getting stuck in a puddle, which could put us a goal down going into the second leg," he said.
"The right decision has been made. We're all disappointed. We wanted to play.
"After the delay I didn't know what to do. We all sat around and the gaffer tried to keep us calm and he did a good job.
"We were all ready for it so it was a wierd half an hour, but you can't do anything about it and you've just got to get on with it.
"Hopefully we can get it done as soon as we can. It's on Monday (so) we get an extra day before Friday's game (second leg).
"We're all just looking forward to getting it played."
