Blizzard to weather Preston storm? Midfielder Dominic Blizzard is a doubt for Yeovil as they prepare to entertain Preston in npower League One this weekend. Blizzard has been struggling with a groin injury recently and, although he is making good progress in his recovery, the clash with the Lilywhites could well come too soon for his return to first-team affairs. New loan signing Dean Parrett has been nursing a sore shoulder during the week but the midfield man is expected to be fit to line up for manager Gary Johnson on Saturday. Yeovil have won one of Johnson's three matches in charge since he returned to the manager's hotseat on January 9, and the Glovers will be looking to bounce back from their 3-2 defeat at Bury last time out. Preston defender David Gray is expected to be fit despite suffering from a head injury. A painful head clash at Notts County left Gray with a cut above the eye, but he has been passed fit for the trip to Huish Park. Forward duo Iain Hume (hamstring) and Neil Mellor (knee) are progressing well in their rehabilitation but remain on the sidelines, meaning Jamie Proctor and Chris Holroyd are set to continue in attack. Fellow striker Harry Bunn was on target in the reserve win over Tranmere in midweek and the Manchester City loanee will hope to claim a place in the matchday squad under Graham Westley for the first time. Westley recalled Adam Barton against Notts County after illness ruled the 20-year-old midfielder out of last weekend's home defeat to Leyton Orient, with the North End chief impressed with what he saw. "Barton came in and showed what he is all about," Westley told the Lancashire Evening Post. "For a young lad, he's not the most expressive person but I think we can grow him into a very good player and there is a lot to work with."
Match Report
Williams at the double for Glovers Yeovil survived a scary last 15 minutes to record a 2-1 win over Preston and climb out of the relegation zone. The Glovers deserved the points for their magnificent first-half performance in which they had eight shots on target but converted only one of them thanks largely to the brilliance of North End goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann. There was a third-minute setback for the visitors when central defender Craig Morgan was shown a straight red card for holding back the goal-bound Andy Williams on the edge of the box. Williams was a constant threat and it was he who put Yeovil ahead after 30 minutes when Clarke Carlisle made a mess of a clearance. Williams struck again in the 61st minute, tapping in from close range after Dean Parrett broke clear. But if Yeovil thought it was going to be an easy ride they were soon mistaken. In the 73rd minute Paul Parry provided the left-wing cross for Carlisle to head home at the far post to set up a tense finale. Yeovil held on but lost skipper Paul Huntington in the last minute when he too was shown a straight red card for violent conduct following a challenge on Jamie Procter.
