Leeds United bounced back from their shock 2-0 defeat at the hands of Oldham last week and looked set for success when they scored after just 30 seconds of a pulsating League One match in Somerset. Manager Gary McAllister made just one change after the Oldham game. He brought in Argentinian striker Luciano Becchio and the decision paid immediate dividends. From the first attack of the match Becchio beat Yeovil Town skipper Terry Skiverton for speed and fired a neat left0footed drive inside the left-hand post of goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. Becchio and his strike partner Jermaine Beckford continued to cause Yeovil problems in the first half and could have doubled the lead on 59 minutes when Robert Snodgrass fired in a 20-yard shot that should have produced a routine save from Begovic, but he let it slip from his grasp and the keeper was relieved to see the ball go the wrong side of the post for a corner. Two minutes later Yeovil, who had been showing signs of taking up the running despite a brace of injuries that cost them wide men Danny Schofield and Aidan Downes, got their equaliser. A two-year wait for a penalty ended when Paul Huntington clearly pushed Paul Warne in the area. Lloyd Owusu, on as a substitute, fired the spot-kick low to Casper Ankergren's left. The keeper made a good stop, but couldn't cling on and Owusu followed up to knock in the rebound. In the closing stages it was Yeovil who came closest to grabbing all three points. On 71 minutes summer signing Gavin Tomlin was clear and almost lobbed Ankergren. Then deep in stoppage time the same player again caused problems for the visitors' defence, but Leeds survived.
