Match Report

Doncaster's hopes of winning automatic promotion from League One were dented when they were beaten by a Yeovil side desperate for points to ensure their survival following a miserable post-Christmas run.

Sean O'Driscoll's men could have no excuse for the defeat as they conceded two bad goals in the first half to leave Yeovil buoyant.

In the 22nd minute the Glovers' all-action skipper Terry Skiverton crept up unnoticed from the back to head in a right wing free-kick by Anthony Barry, and nine minutes later Rovers conceded an even poorer second goal.

Their skipper, Adam Lockwood, a former Yeovil favourite, pushed a back-pass to goalkeeper Neil Sullivan. The veteran shot-stopper tried to dribble his way out of trouble under pressure from Lloyd Owusu but lost the ball and Owusu walked it into the empty net for his 11th goal of the season.

Yeovil were up against a strong wind and incessant rain in the second half and expected to encounter plenty of pressure. They certainly did, but it was not until the 73rd minute that Paul Heffernan got a goal back for Rovers on the one occasion the Yeovil defenders gave him a bit of space.
