Match Preview

Welsh unlikely to face Seagulls Yeovil boss Terry Skiverton has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the home clash against leaders Brighton. The Glovers are likely to be without injury-plagued midfielder Andy Welsh, who has missed the last three games with a knock picked up in training, but have no other injury or suspension problems. That means Skiverton could name the same side for a fourth successive game following Saturday's 1-0 win over Tranmere. But if Skiverton does opt to make changes Dean Bowditch, who has recently been troubled by variety of injury niggles, will be hoping for a recall, and on-loan striker Antonio German will be hoping for his first start following two substitute appearances. Defender Danny Fitzsimons is also be pushing for his first taste of action since arriving from QPR earlier this month. Brighton will check on the fitness of Craig Noone. The winger missed Saturday's surprise 1-0 defeat at MK Dons after suffering a leg injury against his former club Plymouth a week ago. Noone is back in training and boss Gus Poyet will assess him ahead of the match. Veteran midfielder Radostin Kishishev could be added to the bench having been absent for a month due to a back injury and then personal reasons. Alan Navarro is still building up his fitness after six months out with a cruciate injury while fellow midfielder Jamie Smith (foot) and full-back Jim McNulty (ankle) remain sidelined. Saturday's defeat saw the Seagulls' lead at the top cut to just one point.

Match Report

Bennett strikes for Seagulls Elliott Bennett was on target in the first half as leaders Brighton survived early and late pressure to grind out a 1-0 win at struggling Yeovil. The goal came after 25 minutes when Bennett picked up a passing clearance on the edge of the box to fire home past Glovers goalkeeper Stephen Henderson from 25 yards. In the second half, the Seagulls almost doubled their lead when a shot from Bennett was deflected onto a post. Yeovil pushed hard for an equaliser but substitute Andy Williams failed to connect with a far post header in the 70th minute. The result left the Seagulls four points clear at the top of League and took them another step towards promotion to the Championship.
