Match Report

Yeovil Town earned a hard fought point away at promotion pushing Millwall who extended their winless streak to three games after a disappointing 1-1 draw at The Den.

It was the South Londoners who took an early lead through skipper Paul Robinson with the hosts looking comfortably dominant. Impressive striker Luke Rodgers hauled the Glovers level with a close range volley ten minutes before the break which sparked the visitors into life and were unlucky not to take all three points.

David Martin needed three attempts to get his delivery right from a Millwall corner before finding the head of his captain just four minutes into the game. His inswinging cross was glanced home by Robinson rising highest in the Yeovil box, handing the Lions the perfect start.

Kenny Jackett's side began to look in control with chances being created left right and centre by the attack minded Lions. Yeovil stopper Josh Wagenaar produced a wonder save to deny Gary Alexander's powerful strike from distance on ten minutes before Neil Harris was denied a stonewall penalty.

The record hunting striker danced between two Yeovil defenders and was set to pull the trigger before being hauled down inside the box.

Rodgers thought he had given the visitors an equaliser on 28 minutes but was ruled offside as he bundled the ball home after a neat chip from strike partner Gavin Tomlin.

Yeovil boss Russell Slade did not have to wait long for the deserved leveller and it was Rodgers with his name on the score sheet. He latched onto Craig Alcock's telling cross on 36 minutes and volleyed past David Forde from close range.

Lions midfielder Adam Bolder forced another fantastic save from Wagenaar with a half-volley from the edge of the box before hitting the bar with the rebound.

Seconds later, Danny Schofield hit the woodwork with a lofted effort that almost embarrassed the stranded Forde before the impressive Scott Barron turned behind.

Goal scorer Robinson turned villain as he scythed down Nathan Smith on the edge of the Lions box after a daring run almost took the left-back through on goal. Rodgers's deflected effort fell to Tomlin yards from goal but an important challenge from Zak Whitbread prevented a clean strike.

Both sides squandered late efforts with Tomlin heading straight at Forde from Andy Welsh's accurate cross before Marc Laird blazed over having made space for himself on the edge of the box late in injury time.
