Match Report

Substitute Mark De Vries maintained Leeds' unbeaten start to the season and snatched their ninth win in ten games.

De Vries, on loan from Leicester City, left the bench on 76 minutes and headed the winner with one minute remaining.

Leeds were without skipper Alan Thompson, so Andrew Hughes moved into midfield and Jamie Clapham returned at left-back.

Strikers Jermaine Beckford and Tresor Kandol returned after suspension in place of Wayne Andrews and De Vries.

Portuguese winger Filipe da Costa was on the bench after receiving international clearance from FIFA.

Yeovil, still without their captain Terry Skiverton, introduced Kevin Betsy after the winger joined on loan from Bristol City in midweek and they should have taken a 19th minute lead.

Leeds were caught out when Lloyd Owusu and Paul Warne created a golden opportunity for Anthony Barry but the midfielder's shot was blocked by keeper Casper Ankergren.

Leeds responded with slick passing by Jonathon Douglas and Rui Marques, but Seb Carole's shot from 18 yards was too high and Yeovil, who used Owusu as a lone striker, looked the more organised unit.

Leeds had to try the long range route but Clapham's effort from 25 yards was well saved.

Leeds were again rescued by Ankergren when Warne looked a scorer but his shot from just inside the box was superbly turned around the post for a corner by the Danish keeper.

Leeds were much livelier in the second half, but after the home side had a penalty claim for handball rejected, Yeovil missed a glorious chance when Marcus Stewart blazed wide from eight yards.

Leeds made a double substitution with De Vries and Tore Andre Flo replacing Carole and David Prutton and it worked like a charm as the former headed in Douglas' cross to claim the points.
