Goal!! Craig Woodman scores for Wycombe.
It's 3pm on Saturday, August 23rd, the match has kicked off.
The ref has blown his whistle and the match has started.
Craig Woodman's first-ever goal for the club was enough for Wycombe Wanderers to maintain their unbeaten start to the league season at Adams Park. The home side started the brighter and it wasn't the greatest surprise when they took the lead in the 13th minute having manufactured some promising openings. The manner of the strike did have a surprise element as full-back Woodman's cross-cum-shot deceived the back-peddling Rob Burch in the visitors goal to nestle over him and just under the crossbar. Buoyed on by the goal, Chris Zebroski was a matter of inches away from sliding in Gavin Grant's low centre, while John Mousinho then tried his luck from 25 yards only to see Burch tip his shot over. Lincoln offered very little as an attacking force in the first half, Kevin Gall's attempted flick to the far post from eight yards out being all the Imps followers had to get excited about. The visiting supporters did though have more to shout about in the second half with early pressure in the first few minutes after the break amounting to more than they had managed in the previous 45. Lee Beevers came close to the equaliser when he spun and shot, though his shot went just wide. Just past the hour mark they came even closer to levelling the score when Ben Wright's goal-bound shot was blocked on the goal-line by Wycombe defender Mike Williamson. Wycombe though weathered the storm and Zebroski came close to doubling the lead. First he fired in a low shot across the face of the goal, before he forced Burch in to a smart near-post save with a low, driven shot. Scott McGleish should have doubled the lead when he hit the bar from a yard out which would have meant a more comfortable finish for the home side, though they held on to maintain their unbeaten league start to the season.
