Montrose blow for Chairboys Wycombe will be without midfielder Lewis Montrose when Hereford come to Adams Park on Boxing Day. Montrose was scheduled to return from suspension against the Bulls but will instead sit out a one-match ban after last weekend's trip to Southend fell foul of the freezing weather. However, the Chairboys are very confident that Sunday's fixture will take place which will allow Gary Waddock's side to continue their decent form. Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Stuart Lewis extended his loan deal this week and he will now be with the club until the end of January. Defender Leon Johnson could make his 100th appearance for the Chairboys and striker Jon-Paul Pittman continues his recovery from a ruptured knee tendon which is expected to keep him out until the new year. Josh Parker (foot) remains the only other long-term injury concern and the midfielder will not feature for at least six weeks. Hereford are again without Sam Gwynne. Gwynne was due to miss last weekend`s postponed fixture against Macclesfield having picked up a hamstring injury and has failed to shake it off in time for the clash at Adams Park. Fellow defender Ryan Green also misses out as he serves the final game of his three-match suspension, with Ryan Valentine and Dan Connor (both hip) long-term absentees. Manager Jamie Pitman, last Thursday confirmed in the role until the end of the season, has no other concerns as his squad prepare to travel to Buckinghamshire, with Wanderers confident the encounter will get the go-ahead thanks in large to their undersoil heating.

Match Report

Strevens seals late win Ben Strevens made Wycombe's hard work in getting the game on worthwhile with the late winner in a 2-1 victory over Hereford. But it was tough on the Bulls who had deservedly levelled through Mathieu Manset after Gareth Ainsworth's first-half strike. Hereford adapted quickly to the conditions and had the better of the opening action with Nicky Featherstone and Manset going close before Rob Purdie's deflected drive came back off the bar with Nikki Bull beaten. Wycombe gradually forced their way into the game and, with Purdie forced off with a hamstring injury, Kevin Betsy began to make use of some space down the left. Two minutes before the break one of his crosses reached Ainsworth who drove a shot through a crowd of players and into the far corner of the net. Ainsworth's cross was headed just wide by Stuart Beavon and Chris Westwood had a goal disallowed as Wycombe piled on the pressure at the start of the second period. Hereford struck back 12 minutes from time when Manset clipped in Joe Colbeck's cross. But Strevens had the last word, crashing in Beavon's cross two minutes from the end.
