Beavon doubt for Wanderers Wycombe boss Gary Waddock will check on Stuart Beavon's fitness ahead of the home clash with Crewe. Striker Beavon has been sidelined with a knee injury and missed out on Friday's draw at Torquay, but he is nearing a return. Skipper Gareth Ainsworth was passed fit to face the Gulls after recovering from a hamstring injury and the former QPR man is in line to start once again. Left-back Andy Sandell came through Friday's stalemate at Plainmoor after recovering from a knee problem and he is also expected to start. Dave Winfield also returned after breaking his nose against Northampton and the defender came through the full 90 minutes as the Chairboys dug deep to secure a point against Paul Buckle's side. Crewe will be without midfielder Luke Murphy. The 21-year-old requires a hernia operation and will sit out the Railwaymen`s remaining three matches this campaign, starting with the trip to Adams Park. Defender Adam Dugdale made his first start since mid-March in the 2-1 victory over Morecambe and is likely to retain his place alongside Ashley Westwood. Clayton Donaldson bagged a brace in the dramatic comeback against the Shrimps and the striker will be hoping to add to his 27-goal haul. "That`s the first time we have come from behind to win a game all season so we are delighted," manager Dario Gradi said. Mat Mitchel-King made a late appearance as a defensive substitute and will be pushing for only his eighth start of the season. Crewe remain six points off the play-off places as the season draws to a close.

Rendell double sends Chairboys third Scott Rendell bagged a double as Wycombe extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a 2-0 victory over Crewe and maintain their spot in the npower League Two automatic promotion places. The 24-year-old netted twice in the space of five dramatic late first-half minutes, the second from the spot, but missed out on a hat-trick after missing another penalty in the second half. It could have all been different though as striker Clayton Donaldson missed a spot-kick of his own for Crewe just 66 seconds before Rendell netted his second. The game sparked into life four minutes before half-time when Rendell's header flew beyond Rhys Taylor after Andy Sandell's free-kick. But within a minute the visitors were awarded a penalty when Dave Winfield clumsily fouled Shaun Miller - but League Two top-scorer Donaldson was denied by Nikki Bull. The miss came back to haunt Crewe as Lee Bell tripped Lionel Ainsworth and Rendell made no mistake in beating Taylor for a second time. He should have had a hat-trick in the 79th minute but Taylor turned away his second spot kick after Adam Dugdale's handball.
