Match Preview

Winfield missing for Chairboys Wycombe defender Dave Winfield will miss the visit of Bournemouth. Winfield collected his fifth yellow card of the season during the FA Cup defeat at Blue Square Bet Premier promotion hopefuls Fleetwood last weekend and will serve a one-match suspension. Martin Rowlands limped out of the first-round tie at Highbury Stadium with a hamstring strain but the on-loan QPR midfielder trained on Thursday and could be fit. Winger Kevin Betsy will come back into the reckoning after international duty with the Seychelles while right-back Marvin McCoy, who has also been out in the Caribbean playing for Antigua and Barbuda, will return to manager Gary Waddock`s squad too. Captain Gareth Ainsworth (broken thumb) is not expected to be available again until next month. Manager Lee Bradbury will recall four senior players for Bournemouth's trip. The Cherries were without midfielder Wes Fogden and striker Charlie Sheringham for their FA Cup clash with Gillingham as the pair were cup-tied. On-loan defensive duo Steve Cook and Jaime Peters were not given permission by their parent clubs to play in the cup but will return for the league encounter with the Chairboys. Bradbury selected youngsters Josh Carmichael and Elliot Ward on the substitutes' bench for the cup but they are likely to make way for the returning quartet. The Wycombe game will come too soon for injured midfielders Shaun Cooper and Steven Gregory (groin) although both are making good progress, while another midfielder Shaun MacDonald (groin) remains sidelined.

Match Report

Cherries pick off Wanderers Marc Pugh`s first-half effort piled more misery on struggling Wycombe as Bournemouth claimed all three points from their trip to Adams Park. Bournemouth almost took the lead after 10 minutes when Wes Thomas rounded goalkeeper Nikki Bull and found Wes Fogden, but his shot was cleared off the line by Grant Basey. The dangerous Fogden had another opportunity five minutes later, but this time Bull palmed his shot away. The visitors got the goal their dominance deserved after 23 minutes when Thomas fed Fogden down the left and his low cross was turned in at the far post by Pugh. Wycombe were gifted a way back into the game when Joel Grant was brought down by Scott Malone after 34 minutes, but Stuart Beavon blazed the penalty over. Bull had to be alert to push Thomas' effort round the post early in the second half. Grant had a chance for the home side six minutes later, making a 60-yard run from a corner, but firing straight at Darryl Flahavan. Substitute Scott Donnelly hit a speculative 25-yard volley wide and Grant's header was tipped over by Flahavan after taking a nasty bounce. As the hosts searched for an equaliser, Thomas almost extended Bournemouth`s lead after 82 minutes, crashing a header against the post from a Simon Francis cross.
